Universal Health Services, Inc. Completes Sale of Two Facilities

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., July 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Universal Health Services, Inc. (NYSE: UHS) announced today that it has completed the previously announced sale of the 106-bed River Parishes Hospital located in La Place, Louisiana.

UHS also announced the sale of the 160-bed Caribbean Pediatric and Surgery Hospital, located in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. This facility was converted to a pediatric hospital last year. Although operating improvement was achieved, the Company decided to sell this hospital because its occupancy rates remained inconsistent with expectations.

The combined sale proceeds were approximately $32 million, excluding working capital resulting in a gain of approximately $2 million.
